I started designing my first ever portfolio using Wix back in early 2017. This was the first time I became aware of how important it was to have a online portfolio to be a designer. Yet, at that time I knew a little about how to design a personal website that could represent myself. As I took more classes and got more involved in product design projects and the design industry, I gradually figured out how to best present myself and my work through a online portfolio.
Compared to the previous two, the latest one is focused on the four major projects. The side navigation bar also provides readers access to the main projects regardless of where they are on the website. In addition, I also added an "explore" section to showcase my other interesting projects.
I also started coding my portfolio on my own from the second version. I have encountered many technical problems. The process of solving those problems was quite challenging yet very rewarding and exciting because I got to learn many new stuff through different channels (YouTube videos, Udemy courses, Stack Overflow, and etc.) and put them in use.
The most valuable experience during this journey is that I got to be both the designer and the engineer. I got to experience first-hand how a design might differ from the actual website, how important it was to be a organized designer, and how important it was to make sure that the designers and the engineers were constantly communicating and on the same page.
